Good boy…

If you thought calling your teacher ‘mum’ was bad, wait until you get a load of ‘good boy’. We can only imagine this unfortunate presenter has a dog or a son to take care of, but it’s a little unsettling how much I enjoyed being called a ‘good boy’. My praise kink has been activated and I will be watching Look North tonight.

Big stretch…

This poor woman got totally stitched up by the gallery team, who cut away from the studio to a few seconds of a report, before returning straight back to the her just as soon as she’d let her guard down and taken a little stretch. The look of shock is priceless, and the professional trust is surely shattered. Just a little warning that this video contains fear and cringe, from almost the very start.

Song requests…

The advent of smartphones and 4g data has made disrupting live news broadcasts just too easy, especially if you already know where to look for them. Steve Brine MP was attempting to have a serious conversation with the BBC’s Huw Edwards about Boris Johnson’s imminent resignation, when cheeky protestors began blasting the Benny Hill theme tune to make a point about cartoonish politics. Hugh Grant later emerged as having requested this particular tune over twitter. What a world.

Monkey see, monkey who?..

In a moment of technical madness, BBC breakfast showed images of a big gorilla chewing on some roots, in place of Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon. Presenter Charlie Stayt then calmly tries to talk it off by explaining that the images were for a later segment about London Zoo’s escaped gorilla, as if that’s not an important or remarkable story.

Inform, educate, ENTERTAIN

Dealing with kids or pets interrupting a zoom call is bad enough, but when you’re appearing on a global news channel to discuss North Korean proliferation it’s a different story. Note the excellent slide that the woman in this video performs as she enters the room to scoop out the kids. Incredible.
