As the curtain comes down on another eventful season that has seen Arsenal choke as they approached the finish line, City on the cusp of a famous treble (which will later be stripped from them for breaking financial rules) and Chelsea spending half a billion on new players only to find out none of them are any good…oh well, the contracts are only…wait, what, how long?!?! And if that’s not enough entertainment, we’ve had more comedy gold from the one and only Roy Keane!

Whether you loved him or hated him as a player, he’s certainly become one of the most loved pundits on TV. The box office Irishman calls things as he sees them, approaching punditry in the same way he did the game, no-nonsense!

Add into the mix, an unlikely partner in Micah Richards, the two together have viewers tuning to watch them almost as much as the matches themselves, hoping for another Keano rant with Richards bursting into fits of laughter at the sheer bluntness of his co-pundit.

Below are some best moments from Keane.

WHAT A BABY

At half-time, during the recent Liverpool vs Arsenal game, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson approached the linesman. What ensued had the Liverpool fans amongst us saying the linesman smashed him with an elbow you’d be more accustomed to seeing in the UFC but the hardman form Cork, saw it very differently.

No Excuses….

Sticking with the baby theme, the then-Ireland assistant manager was asked about the availability of his captain Robbie Keane due to his wife giving birth. ‘Well, he didn’t have the baby did he’ he quipped. The former Tottenham striker also showed a bit of the Irish humour himself, responding ‘Well he is used to it, he’s got bigger t**s than me’

Don’t Ever Interrupt ROY

If you’re going to interrupt a press conference, at least do it with the infamous porn noise, it may even have got a smile from that steely Keane exterior! However, to stop Roy in his tracks from a phone call and then have the nerve to tell him that rather than turn it off, he’s just going to let it ring out…that journo must have had a death wish!

Taxi for De Gea and Maguire!

With Manchester United a goal down at half-time, a crimson Roy unleashed the fury and in the firing line this time was, well yes, you guessed it Harry Maguire but it is David De Gea who got the full force of it. Roy was apoplectic after the Spanish international had made yet another howler. Keane really did not hold back, not only telling viewers he’d make them get a taxi back to Manchester but if he was in the changing rooms, he’d be swinging punches at the two of them!

Football isn’t meant to be fun

No collection of Roy’s best moments is complete without his sidekick Micah Richards. The now infamous ‘Did you burst onto the scene?’, the pair’s contrasting views on Aston Villa’s celebrations after staying in the Premier League and who can forget dancing Roy Keane! Yet in keeping with the other selections, we’re celebrating Roy for his grumpy demeanor and no line sums that up better than ‘I never liked players who smiled!’

Roy Keane is a true national icon!
