Famous for its terrifying Mrs Tweedy, enormous pie machine and endless quotable moments (“I don’t want to be a pie!”), the first Chicken Run film was a formative childhood experience for many. Now after a 23 year hiatus, Aardman Animations and Netflix are bringing everybody’s favourite hens back to the screen, with Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. With more details to come soon, the new image released by Netflix teases the return of the always-gobby Babs, Bunty the knitter, resident flock inventor Fowler, and east-end rats Mick and Fletcher.

Scheduled to be released towards the end of 2023, the sequel will see Rocky and Ginger reckon with their biggest challenge yet, parenthood! The freshly hatched Molly will be voiced by Bella Ramsey, famous from her recent breakout role as Ellie in The Last of Us and a previous stint playing Lyanna Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones

Official sources say that the new movie will begin with the flock living safely and happily, far from the murderous Mrs. Tweedy and her evil profit motive. Sadly however this tranquility doesn’t last, and our feathered friends soon find themselves fighting off their biggest existential threat yet, for the future of all chickenkind!
